I believe one of the main reasons we hesitate to take action toward our goals and dreams is that we lack full conviction that our efforts will yield the results we desire. This uncertainty creates hesitation—because when we are not sure of the outcome, we start to see our efforts as a gamble rather than a guarantee.
We question why we should put in effort, work hard, or even try when we’re uncertain about the outcome. If we had complete faith and absolute conviction that our actions would give us the life we desire, we would commit ourselves fully to the work. We would persist regardless of obstacles.
Consider this: if you knew with certainty that all you needed to do was work consistently for one year to achieve the life you want (the house, car, financial freedom, fame, relevance, and whatever else you desire), you would dedicate yourself entirely to that effort. Your commitment would be unwavering because you’d be assured of the result.
You would push forward, putting in the effort because you know for certain that your efforts will deliver the results you desire.
But life isn’t certain. Nothing in life is guaranteed. We can’t be sure that our work and efforts will give us the results we want, which sometimes leads us to hesitate or not fully commit.
However, the truth is that even though there’s no certainty in life—you can work hard and still not get what you want—doing nothing means you’ve already given up.
Not trying, not making an effort, and not working toward your daily goals, weekly targets, and bigger objectives is essentially surrendering before you’ve even begun.
You give yourself a much higher chance of success by taking action. If you do nothing, your result is automatically zero. But when you do something, the universe may work in your favor. The cosmos might align, and you may achieve what you desire through your efforts and work.
When you choose inaction, you’re essentially telling the universe, “I accept that I can’t get anything out of this life. I accept failure. I accept that I can’t become who I want to be or live the good life I imagine.”
But when you try, you’re giving yourself a chance. Your effort says that even if you’re not certain of the results—even if you’re not sure your hard work and sleepless nights will pay off—you’re at least giving it your best shot.
That attempt already gives you a 50/50 chance. And if you’re not just trying blindly but trying with knowledge and insight (not just taking action for the sake of it but taking informed action), you significantly increase your chances of success.
This approach is infinitely better than doing nothing at all. Your chances of success becomes much higher when you combine action with knowledge.
Takeaway:
Don’t let uncertainty or the unknown of the future hold you back. The future belongs to those who take action despite not knowing all the answers. Give yourself the best possible chance at creating the future you desire. Work hard, put in your best, fail, learn, and keep going. The universe may just align in your favor and reward your efforts, consistency, and persistence.
